Mercedes-Benz Viano and Vito: Recall due to risk of injury from airbags

Mercedes has determined that a Takata module may have been installed during a replacement of the driver's airbag, a spokeswoman for the automaker said. In an accident with an airbag deployed, the gas generator could burst. The airbag would then no longer provide a restraint effect, and there would be a risk of injury to the occupants from detaching gas generator parts, the spokeswoman said. The recall, published by the KBA on Friday, mentions the "detachment of metal fragments" that could injure the occupants.
