Costs for social tickets in Berlin are rising

Berlin – The cost of the social ticket for public transport in Berlin will rise from the current €19 to €27.50 at the beginning of 2026. Social Affairs Senator Cansel Kiziltepe (SPD) announced this in the "Tagesspiegel" newspaper. "The truth is that much higher prices for the social ticket were under discussion," she said. Her goal is to continue enabling mobility in the city for low-income people. The Berlin social ticket is available to people who receive social benefits and are therefore entitled to a discounted ticket. "We are now returning to the starting price before the coronavirus pandemic. When former Social Affairs Senator Elke Breitenbach introduced the social ticket, it cost €27.50," Kiziltepe said. She would have liked to stick with the current price, but needed to consolidate her budget. The ticket was only raised from its previous price of €9 to €19 in April 2025.

Epic gold price rally
The price of gold has surpassed a new record high. The $3,500 mark has fallen, and even $4,000 now appears only an interim target. The rally is being driven by several factors simultaneously:
- · massive purchases by central banks
- Capital flight to safe havens
- · high demand for physically backed gold ETFs
- · geopolitical uncertainty and inflation concerns
