Ten insect repellents tested – only one convinces

Stiftung Warentest tested ten tick and mosquito repellents, but only one truly stood out in the test.

Dorit Munzke from Stiftung Warentest summarizes the results: "All tested products offer a certain degree of protection against mosquito and tick bites." However, there are large differences in the duration of effectiveness.

The product "Viticks" performed worst. With a test score of 3.6, it came in last place. It only protects against insects for about two and a half hours and is quite expensive at just under 90 cents per 10 milliliters.

The first place went to "Anti Brumm Forte" with a test result of 1.7. It provides effective protection for over seven hours, but at 1.58 cents per 10 milliliters, it is also the most expensive product.

"Viticks" was hardly convincing, whereas "Anti Brumm Forte" was the test winner Glomex

In case you've already been bitten, insect bite healers were also tested. The best ones rely on heat, like the test winner "Heat-It." It can be controlled via an app and its intensity can be adjusted. However, at €27, it's quite expensive.
