Following the fatal police operation in Nienburg in March 2024, there will probably be no consequences for the 14 officers involved.

The Göttingen Police Department told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" that it had found "no disciplinary conduct." This also concludes the internal investigation. A fatal police operation in Oldenburg has also recently drawn criticism: A 21-year-old man was shot dead by a police officer there in April 2025. The officer is being investigated for manslaughter.
