Competition in telecommunications is urgently needed…

While this should come as no surprise to anyone even slightly informed on the matter, the fact is that the repeated call for provisions that contribute to greater competition balance in the telecommunications sector, expressed in the forums organized by the Senate to deepen understanding of the controversial official initiative on the matter, should constitute the core of the debate and eventual approval of this initiative at the legislative level.

Just yesterday, during his appearance before the plural commission formed to encourage the aforementioned debate, specialist Gonzalo Rojon once again "put his finger on the sore spot" by insisting on the need to strengthen the role and independence of the regulatory body, in the face of what he stated constitutes an undeniable lack of competition in the telecommunications market, and even more serious, in the digital sphere.

He went further. He emphasized that the long-awaited framework of greater and more balanced competition will not exist without "a real force" capable of confronting and controlling América Móvil, the company that currently accounts for 52 percent of the entire sector's revenue and is capable, at least now, of evading regulations and sanctions, something that doesn't happen anywhere in the world except, let me bet, in the Venezuela of the unspeakable dictator-murderer Nicolás Maduro , friend and partner of the 4T...
