As rescue teams continue to search for people swept away by flash floods in Texas on Friday, the death toll surpassed 100 on Monday. Among them are 27 girls , including two sisters whose bodies were found together, still holding hands.

Meteorologists warned of further flooding as rains fell on saturated ground, complicating rescue efforts involving helicopters, boats, and officials. The death toll is expected to rise in the coming hours.

US President Donald Trump plans to visit Texas on Friday, according to the White House. He also criticized those who claim his cuts to weather agencies have weakened warning systems.

The death of the Harber sisters: “Their hands were intertwined”

As the days pass, details behind each of the victims' stories are emerging. One is the case of the sisters who were found holding hands in Texas.

Blair and Brooke Harber, ages 13 and 11 , from Dallas, were on a family trip to Casa Bonita, a gated community in the city of Hunt, which was affected by the flooding on Friday, July 4. The Harber family was staying in two separate cabins: one for the parents, and the other for the girls with their maternal grandparents.

Prince Andrew breathes a sigh of relief: the FBI has ruled out any "client list" for pedophile Epstein.

The tragic scene began when RJ Harber, the girls' father, woke up around 3:30 a.m. to find water pouring into his cabin, his sister Jennifer told local outlet KHOU . Outside, the rain was so heavy that the water could barely be heard, The New York Post reported.

Almost simultaneously, Brooke texted her father and grandparents: “I love you.” RJ and his wife, Annie , broke a window and tried to reach their daughters , who were sleeping in a nearby cabin, but the current stopped them. They borrowed a kayak from a neighbor, but the water was too rough, and the parents were rescued along with five others.

The girls were found 12 hours later , about 25 kilometers from where they were staying. “When they were found, their hands were intertwined ,” Jennifer told KHOU, in a picture that moved the entire community. The grandparents are still missing.
