An ultralight aircraft crashed violently on Tuesday, July 22, on a highway in Azzano Mella , Brescia province, in northern Italy , leaving two people dead and at least two slightly injured . The accident occurred in broad daylight and caused a fireball upon impact , which hampered any rescue attempts.

According to initial reports, the victims were identified as Sergio Ravaglia , a 75-year-old lawyer, and Anna Maria De Stefano , 50, who were traveling on board the aircraft. Both died at the scene of the crash.

The impact also affected drivers passing by the area. Two motorists suffered minor injuries due to the burst and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Accident captured on video

The accident was captured by a surveillance camera installed on the highway. The video shows the plane descending abruptly and crashing into the asphalt, generating a massive explosion. Several vehicles managed to escape the area seconds before the impact.

Emergency services responded to the scene, but the occupants could not be rescued due to the magnitude of the fire. The plane's wreckage was completely charred and scattered across the road.

Italian authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the crash . So far, no details have been released regarding the flight conditions or the origin of the aircraft.
