Stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia: route, profile, schedule, and where to watch

Stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia: route, profile, schedule, and where to watch

From Albania to Rome. The 108th edition of the 2025 Giro d'Italia has been running for days through Italian soil, a race that will continue until June 1, when it finishes in the Eternal City.

This Thursday, May 15th, marks the sixth of the 21 stages of a race in which reigning champion Tadej Pogacar will not be able to take on the pink jersey again, having been a notable absence this year. His UAE Team Emirates has decided to prioritize its schedule for other races and not compete in all three Grand Tours in the same season (Giro, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España). Jonas Vingegaard, the great alternative, will also be absent.

The favorites in this edition are Primoz Roglic, Juan Ayuso, Adam Yates, Giulio Ciccone, and Antonio Tiberi. Also to be considered are race winners such as Richard Carapaz (2019) , Egan Bernal (2021) , and Jai Hindley (2022 ), who will all be looking to repeat.

Route and profile of stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia today

In this edition, competitors will cover 3,413.3 kilometers with an altitude difference of 52,500 meters. Of the 21 stages, two will be time trials, six will be sprints, and the rest will be mountain stages, the latter with moderate to maximum difficulties.

In addition to the four Albanian municipalities, the Giro will pass through 14 Italian regions : Veneto, Aosta Valley, Umbria, Trentino, Tuscany, Puglia, Piedmont, Marche, Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Campania, Basilicata and Abruzzo.

Stage six is a demanding route through southern Italy. The day's challenge includes multiple climbs, each of which isn't particularly impressive individually, but which together will be quite demanding. Ideal for a large breakaway that can outwit the peloton. The first day covers over 200 kilometers.

Stage 6 - Thursday, May 15: Potenza-Naples, 210 km

It will start in Potenza and finish in Naples , and will cover a total of 210 kilometers , where the leg-breaking profile, with a flat final section, is a great opportunity for 'bidon breaks' and a change of leader.

Schedule and where to watch Stage 6 on TV and online today

The Giro d'Italia stage schedule is scheduled for around 1:00 PM. As is typical in a sport like cycling, the finish time depends on the speed of the peloton and the number of kilometers the cyclists must cover. The stage typically concludes around 5:00 PM.
