One federal, which includes organized crime, and another common law, for criminal association, extortion, fuel theft, and other crimes.

But these are not the key data.

Perhaps the worst thing for Hernán Bermúdez Requena was the long surveillance he was subjected to from the highest levels of power for his then-suspicious activities.

One part was in charge of the Navy, the Army and of course the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of Omar García Harfuch .

They kept an eye on him for years, and perhaps that's why, as recently as 2021, the official's activities became known despite official protection.

Because although appointed by the Tabasco governor Adán Augusto López , he was ratified and supported by his successor Carlos Manuel Merino and operated with complete freedom.

Until the arrival of Javier May , who, faced with Adán Augusto, decided to uncover the conflict of interest: Bermúdez Requena was an authority and at the same time led the criminal group La Barredora .

Authorities have records of Hernán Bermúdez Requena 's ties to the drug lords, documented through phone calls and transcripts.

He is trying to block the arrest warrant with injunctions, and his lawyers are working frantically on it, but the militia has made all the information available to the authorities.

Some of these documents were key to the integration of the Federal Public Ministry's (or the Attorney General's Office, for that matter) complaint on the fundamental issue: organized crime.

That's what's criminal.

The issue is how far they will try to go politically, especially because it affects one of the leading Morena figures, Adán Augusto López , who has begun a campaign to clean up his image.

Damage control, as communications strategists once called it, is now used to maintain and strengthen the Tabasco native's leadership in the Senate.
