In recent hours, the Colombian Financial Superintendency (Superfinanciera) issued an alert message to all citizens due to a new type of scam being carried out by third parties aimed at stealing your personal information. How can you protect yourself?

Through a message published on its official X account (previously known as Twitter), the institution stressed that criminals are using a more sophisticated technique with which they can obtain banking data in order to make transfers.

For this reason, you should avoid sharing your cell phone screen , as your financial information may be at risk. "Be wary of unknown numbers contacting you via video call or instant messaging. Official entities never request personal information through these means," they added.

The Ministry of Justice, through its website, highlighted the actions you should take if you have been deceived or scammed. If the amount is between 10 and 150 salaries, you will have to file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office. If the amount exceeds this amount, you must file a complaint with the agency.
