Remaining holidays and long weekends in 2025 with extra pay for work

In Mexico, holidays, also known as long weekends , are days when work and school activities are not carried out, as they are considered mandatory days of rest. Therefore, both workers and students have the right not to report to their workplaces or educational institutions during these days.
In case you're interested: How to download the CURP for free in 2025Regarding this, the Federal Labor Law (LFT) indicates in its article 74 that these are the mandatory rest days for 2025:
- January 1st for New Year's Day
- The first Monday of February in commemoration of February 5th
- The third Monday of March in commemoration of March 21
- May 1st is Labor Day
- September 16th for Independence
- The third Monday of November in commemoration of November 20
- On October 1, every six years, by the transmission of the Federal Executive Power
- December 25th for Christmas
- Those determined by federal and local electoral laws, for ordinary elections, for the purpose of carrying out the election day
Some companies grant workers two days off for Easter, Mother's Day, or the Day of the Dead; however, these are not mandatory under the LFT.
This year there's still the long weekend for Independence Day, November 20th, and another for Christmas.
What happens if I work on a bridge?Article 75 of the LFT (Law on Labor Law) establishes that both employers and workers must determine the number of seconds who will provide their services on the holiday.
All those who are required to report to work on a long weekend in 2025 are entitled to receive, in addition to the salary corresponding to the mandatory rest period, double the salary for the service rendered; that is, they should be paid triple the salary.
Also, if a mandatory rest day falls on a Sunday, the employer must pay workers the Sunday bonus, as stipulated in Article 71 of the LFT.
Therefore, workers will receive triple their salary for working on a mandatory rest day, plus the Sunday bonus, if applicable.
If you work on Holy Week , Mother's Day, or the Day of the Dead, there is no extra pay.
