On the other hand, a survey released in July 2024 by the Fundamental Agreements Group in the Health Sector—made up of twenty Colombian medical academies, associations, and colleges —revealed that 76.6% of participants believe the conditions of the health system will have worsened between 2023 and 2024.
Eight out of ten respondents indicated that this situation has had a negative impact on their mental health. 20.6% believe the situation in the system has remained the same, and only 2.7% believe it has improved.

Along these lines, respondents identified several causes behind the deterioration of the health system. The most frequently cited is the lack of governance, cited by 46.2% of participants. This was followed by the lack of financial resources in the health system (46%), the global crisis in the supply of medicines (17%), and other factors (12.9%).
Furthermore, it should be noted that the World Health Organization states that, to date, 450 million people worldwide live with a mental disorder, and it is estimated that by 2030 this will be the leading cause of disability globally.
