Controversy: Eugenio Derbez parodies Andy López Beltrán's trips to Tokyo

Eugenio Derbez has once again ignited political debate in Mexico. This time, he did so with a parody in which he mocks the travels of Andy López Beltrán, son of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who was recently accused of allegedly spending millions in Tokyo.
In recent months, Andy López Beltrán has been in the public eye for his visits to exclusive destinations. Last July, he attended the opening of a luxurious property owned by Annex, a company owned by his friend Diego Jiménez Labora. He has also been seen at prestigious restaurants such as The Okura Tokyo, where, according to media reports, he allegedly paid for dinners of up to 47,000 pesos.
According to investigations, the entire trip would have cost 177,000 pesos, a figure that contrasts with the austerity policy her father promoted during his administration.
In a video shared on Instagram, Derbez appears joking with his son José Eduardo about charges of more than 374,000 yen, equivalent to 47,000 pesos, at a dinner. The sketch directly references the accusations against Andy López Beltrán.
The parody not only sparked laughter, but also strong political reactions, as Derbez has been a frequent critic of the Fourth Transformation, ranging from issues such as the Mayan Train to the spending of officials linked to Morena.
Beyond satire, Derbez's intervention rekindles the debate about the relationship between celebrities and politics in Mexico. Some argue that the comedian is merely seeking the spotlight, while others defend his right as a citizen to express his opinion about government officials and their actions.
The parody is also part of the promotion for the new season of De viaje con los Derbez: Japón, which increases the visibility of the message and positions it in an international context.
