Israel attacks Hamas leaders in Doha as ceasefire is discussed

Israel had accepted Donald Trump's proposal for a truce, under the conditions that all hostages in the Strip be released and that Hamas lay down its weapons.
The Israeli military announced Tuesday a "precise strike against the senior leadership" of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas , without providing further details about the location of the attack.
Shortly before the announcement, the Qatari network Al Jazeera reported that explosions—so far of unknown origin—had been heard in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where several high-ranking Hamas members reside.
"For years, these members of the Hamas leadership have directed the terrorist group's operations, are directly responsible for the brutal massacre of October 7 , and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel," the Israeli forces stated in their statement.
The news comes amid a surge in US-led negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip .
On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said that Israel has accepted US President Donald Trump 's latest proposal, under the conditions that all hostages in the Gaza Strip be released and that Hamas lay down its weapons.
Until now, the Islamists' negotiating delegation has been led by Khalil al-Hayya , a member of the group's political bureau based in Qatar.
In recent days, Hamas, which seeks an agreement with guarantees that Israel will end its offensive, has stated that it is "open to any idea or proposal that would allow for a comprehensive ceasefire" and the "complete withdrawal" of Israeli forces from Gaza.
