Javier May: Commitment to transparency after operations

Javier May: Commitment to transparency after operations

Following successful operations against the criminal groups "La Barredora" and "Pueblos Unidos," Tabasco Governor Javier May Rodríguez reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability, while highlighting the effectiveness of the coordinated security strategy.

VILLAHERMOSA, Tabasco.- In a context marked by the security crisis but also by recent and decisive blows to organized crime, the governor of Tabasco, Javier May Rodríguez, has sought to project an image of control and firmness, focusing his discourse on transparency and results.

Following the confirmation of the arrest of 24 alleged members of the criminal cells "La Barredora" and "Pueblos Unidos" in operations by the Olmeca Interinstitutional Tactical Reaction Force (FIRT), the state leader has taken the opportunity to reinforce his political message, contrasting his government's actions with those of past administrations.

Capitalizing on Safety Results

May's government has highlighted the operations as proof that the security strategy, based on coordination with federal forces, is working. In press conferences, it has emphasized that high-impact crimes are declining and that it will not compromise with criminals.

"We don't want a superficial peace; we want a lasting peace, based on institutions and working with the people," the governor declared, using the FIRT results as evidence of his commitment to "reversing the neglect and dismantling" he asserted he found in the state government.

This stance seeks to build trust among citizens who, according to the latest INEGI survey, live with a 95.3% perception of insecurity in Villahermosa, the highest in the country.

Transparency as a Political Flag

In parallel with his security strategy, the governor has made transparency one of his main priorities. In various public appearances, he has reaffirmed his commitment to managing resources honestly and reporting promptly on his administration's actions.

This speech takes on particular relevance in a state where the previous administration, headed by Adán Augusto López and later by Carlos Manuel Merino, has been accused by May himself of having alleged ties to criminal groups and of having allowed violence to escalate.

"Everyone knows, it was common knowledge here, who commanded La Barredora. Or don't we know?" May questioned at a press conference, in a clear allusion to Hernán Bermúdez Requena, the former security secretary of the previous administration.

By positioning himself as a transparent leader determined to combat corruption and impunity, Javier May seeks to differentiate himself from his predecessors and build a new relationship of trust with the people of Tabasco. Security results and public perception in the coming months will be the barometer that measures the success of his political strategy.
