Aragon will allocate more than 63 million to cybersecurity

Aragon will allocate more than 63 million to cybersecurity

A total of € 63.6 million , excluding VAT. This figure will be allocated to the new Joint Framework Agreement for cybersecurity supplies and services, recently approved in Aragon. The agreement aims to modernize technological protection in the public sector, provide innovative solutions, and strengthen the response to current and future digital threats.

This contract is structured into four lots . The first will have a budget of € 20.5 million for the supply and implementation of cybersecurity software and hardware, while the second, worth € 8 million , will be for professional cybersecurity services .

A third batch is also included, covering Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) services, audits, and training, for which € 2.5 million will be allocated, and a fourth batch, for comprehensive security for critical and physical infrastructure, with € 5 million .

The contract will be valid for three years , although it can be extended for two more years up to five years. Furthermore, the contracting model through this framework agreement will allow for the approval of specialized companies without having to initially commit to a fixed contract volume.

During this period, and across the four lots, coordinated efforts will be made to ensure a cybersecurity service that adapts to demand. This will also contribute to strengthening system resilience and consolidating a secure digital ecosystem based on principles such as security by design, zero trust , and the use of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence.

This new agreement is promoted by the Aragonese public entity for Telematic Services (AST), in line with the Cybersecurity Strategy approved on May 29, 2024. For now, the Governing Council has approved today the start of the contracting process for this new Mixed Framework Agreement for the supply and services of cybersecurity for the Administration of the Aragonese Community, its autonomous bodies, and the entire Aragonese public sector. The gradual incorporation of local entities into the shared services model of the Aragonese Cybersecurity Center is also planned.

Although it has not yet been specified, the agreement could benefit from European funds such as the Aragón 2021-2027 FEDER program and the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan-NextGenerationEU, according to the Aragonese government.
