The end of the Nokia smartphone era is approaching. These phones will disappear from stores.

In 2015, the Finnish company Nokia separated its mobile phone production department from its structures and focused on other technological projects related to data transmission.
In order to maintain the brand value and continue to use numerous patents and solutions, a license agreement was signed with the Finnish partner HMD Global, which has been introducing subsequent versions of smartphones with the Nokia logo to the market since November 2015.
In January 2024, HMD changed its name to Human Mobile Devices and decided to develop independently, while Nokia's new strategy assumes withdrawal from this niche business.
In an era of widespread market domination by brands such as Apple and Samsung, it is necessary to spend several billion dollars to keep up with the new solutions offered to customers.
Hence, as Biznes Interia reports, the decision to shorten the duration of the contract with HMD from the end of 2026 and set the deadline for March 2026, when phones marked with the Nokia logo will start to disappear from stores.
This will mark the end of a certain development in the cycle of global digitalization.
