A8 motorway closed in the direction of Aix towards Italy after a pile-up near Nice

This Thursday morning, around 7 a.m., a major pile-up occurred on the A8 motorway . An hour later, it was still causing significant disruption.
According to initial reports, it involved several cars , a truck and a motorcycle. The pile-up occurred in the Las Planas tunnel in Nice, on the Aix-en-Provence-Italy route, before the Nice Nord exit . Three people were slightly injured. Twenty-one firefighters and six vehicles were involved in the intervention.
A mandatory exitThe injured were the driver and passenger of the motorcycle, as well as a motorist. The accident caused a great deal of disruption and a major traffic jam . The motorway garage had to evacuate the vehicles involved as they passed, and petrol spilled onto the road.
According to Vinci Autoroutes, its teams are mobilized "to allow emergency services to intervene with the injured and to evacuate vehicles." The exit is mandatory at Nice Saint-Isidore (No. 52) and entry is prohibited at this location. The recommended exit is Nice Ouest (No. 50).
