Oasis in concert in Cardiff: flamboyant return for the Gallagher brothers, finally reconciled

The Manchester band performed their first show since 2009 this Friday night at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. We report from the heart of a two-hour set featuring a slew of hits.

They haven't played a note yet, but already, the Principality Stadium is exploding. Oasis is truly here. Incredible, unexpected, after that shattering split backstage at the Rock En Seine festival in Saint-Cloud in 2009. One argument too many between the two Gallagher brothers who sabotaged live the biggest rock phenomenon of the 90s and 2000s. Irreconcilable? And yet... On this Friday evening in Cardiff (Wales), the moment is historic in this gigantic stadium, filled to the brim.

Liam, dressed in his signature black and khaki parka, steps toward the microphone, leaning forward, focused, almost in a trance. To his right, Noel, clean-shaven and in a denim shirt, strums the opening notes of "Hello." The stage is stripped down, in black and white, topped with a simple "Oasis" sign. Two giant screens frame the stage.
