One summer, one memory. A “Mulhouse Plage” in Richwiller: the story of a public body of water that became private.

Purchased in 1945 by the Heckels, the six-hectare lake surrounded by forests, then called Mulhouse Plage, attracted thousands of enthusiasts before being sold in 1975 to owners united under the umbrella of a real estate company. A dive into a beautiful story.
You have to go back to 1925 to see a gravel pit, near the old Richwiller SNCF train station, fed by the water table and several springs, transformed into a clear pond. A couple of garage owners from Pfastatt, the Heckels, bought the six-hectare site in 1945, to which were added ten hectares of surrounding forests, and transformed it into an idyllic spot.
