Public broadcasting reform: the text rejected by the deputies returns to the Senate on July 10

Despite its rejection by MPs, the reform continues its parliamentary path. The Senate will examine the reform of public broadcasting, championed by Culture Minister Rachida Dati, starting on July 10, following its outright rejection on Monday in the National Assembly .

Senators will consider the text , which has been denounced by the affected employees , in a second reading, with a committee review scheduled for Thursday, a government source told AFP, confirming information from Le Figaro . Friday, July 11, will also be open to continue reviewing the text if necessary.
The Senate's schedule was confirmed during Tuesday's public session by Senate Vice-President Loïc Hervé, pending a meeting of the Conference of Presidents on Wednesday evening, which is responsible for setting the agenda.
Dati's office satisfied to go "faster to the Senate"The bill is supported by the Senate, which initiated it through Senator Laurent Lafon (UDI, center), the author of the text. The upper house adopted it in June 2023 at first reading.
It plans to create a holding company, France Médias, on January 1, 2026, which would oversee France Télévisions, Radio France and the INA (National Audiovisual Institute), under the authority of a chairman and CEO.
