Former municipal councilor in Hyères, Renée Tornato has left us

It is sad news that came just before the weekend with the death, on Friday, of Renée Tornato at the age of 67 .
A nursing assistant at the Hyères hospital, where she was also a staff representative for a long time, she received the regional silver medal of honor for 30 years of service in 2007 for her long career.
Also very involved in the AMF association (Telethon) for which she has constantly worked hard to raise funds, she decided to enter politics in 2008 by joining Jacques Politi's list "Together for Hyères" .
A few months later, he was elected mayor and Renée Tornato was appointed municipal councillor responsible for relations with hospitals.
During her first months in office, she fought, among other things, to save the cardiology and visceral surgery departments within the Hyères facility. She also joined the CCAS board of directors.
Strong-willed, she decided to leave Jacques Politi's majority in 2011 following the integration of two former opposition elected officials to whom the mayor decided at the time to give delegations in the same way as those who had been at his side since 2008.
Behind Politi then GiranA few months later, she created the group "Hyères encore" with François Carrassan, also a former elected official of the disappointed majority. A duo that Elie di Russo would later join...
In 2013, the group rallied behind opposition leader Jean-Pierre Giran and won the election. She would serve in the majority as a municipal councilor until 2020.
"I feel very sad. Renée was a person of quality and kindness, full of common sense and who assumed her responsibilities. I appreciated her very much," confided Elie Di Russo, former deputy for agriculture.
A tribute will be paid to him this Friday at the Cuers crematorium at 9:15 a.m.
