The left-wing mayor of Saint-Fons, Christian Duchêne, is continuing the rollout of video surveillance in his town. The town hall aims to have a fleet of 168 cameras in operation by the end of 2025, " an increase of 265% since 2020 ," it said. According to the executive , this explosion in the number of video surveillance cameras pursues several objectives, including " protecting people and property ", " punishing traffic offences " and " fighting against trafficking, incivility and fly-tipping ".
