Overseas Minister Manuel Valls called a press conference at the High Commission in Noumea to announce that no agreement between pro-independence and non-pro-independence supporters on the institutional future of New Caledonia had been reached following the conclave discussions held at the Sheraton in Deva.

Meeting in congress since Saturday, August 9, the FLNKS is expected to unsurprisingly announce its rejection of the draft Bougival Agreement signed in July with the French government. But Manuel Valls is not giving up. The Minister of Overseas Territories will return to New Caledonia on August 18.
