Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake, the electric station wagon with a 700 km range

The new Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake , the first electric station wagon in the brand's history, is expected on the European market in March 2026. In conjunction with the launch of the mild hybrid version with 48V technology, the brand with the Star will also offer the full electric variants ( 250+ and 350 4Matic ) of this family car designed around the Mercedes - Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, with the 800 Volt architecture located in the underbody that guarantees the recovery of approximately 300 km in just ten minutes (by connecting the car to a column capable of supplying direct current of up to 320 kW ) and the 85 kWh battery that pushes the vehicle to over 700 kilometers of autonomy. (in the WLTP combined cycle).
For the market launch of its first electric station wagon, the German manufacturer has decided to propose a highly dynamic and distinctive style, already anticipated on the sedan, with a front grille illuminated by 142 star-shaped LEDs and optional Multibeam LED headlights. The CLA Shooting Brake also features a different descending roof line, which can also be optionally panoramic, with the ability to switch from transparency to maximum opacity in a maximum of twenty milliseconds, and 158 three-pointed stars that can create a real starry sky above the heads of the occupants. This model, 4,723 mm long , with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,469 mm high , we find the Mercedes - Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform which can accommodate electrified models belonging to a large number of segments. The trunk has a load capacity of between 455 and 1,290 litres , while the illuminated luggage compartment under the front bonnet reaches up to 101 litres .
For the market launch phase, scheduled for spring 2026, the new Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake will be available in two versions, 250+ and 350 4Matic . The former is equipped with a single permanent magnet motor capable of delivering a maximum power of 272 hp (200 kW) and 335 Nm of torque, with a two-speed gearbox. From a performance point of view, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.8 seconds, while the top speed (also shared with its bigger sister) is 210 km / h . Under the body of the 350 4Matic variant, however, there is a dual motor powertrain with 354 hp (260 kW) and 515 Nm of torque, for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. Both can count on an 85 kWh nickel, manganese and cobalt battery which, according to what the manufacturer with the Star says, in the combined WLTP cycle guarantees 761 and 730 kilometres of autonomy respectively, with combined energy consumption of 12.7 - 15.2 and 13.2 - 15.7 kWh / 100 km . The battery can be rechargeable either with direct current (DC), up to 320 kW , with the possibility of obtaining up to 310 km of autonomy in ten minutes , or with alternating current (AC), even through a domestic wallbox, up to 22 kW .
Inside the cabin, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake focuses primarily on comfort, luxury, and new technologies. The optional MBUX Superscreen, which spans the entire width of the cabin, seems specifically designed for long journeys, with a 10.25-inch driver display paired with a 14-inch central infotainment screen. A third 14-inch touchscreen is available as an option for individual front passenger entertainment. A 12.2-inch head-up display is also available as an option.
