A mini-colony of former red and whites is forming in Sicily. Fortitudo Agrigento , a team that will compete in the next national Serie B championship, will be led by coach Devis Cagnardi (photo), in his third stint as coach. The former red and white coach has remained in the hearts of the Reggio Emilia residents despite an unfortunate season in which he was fired midway through. His first stint in Agrigento was in 2019, where, in the then-A2 championship, he finished second only to Turin. In his second stint in Sicily, the Pisogne-born coach guided newly promoted Agrigento to a comfortable relegation to Serie A2 in 2022, and has now been recalled to try to climb back up to the second national division. To attempt this feat, the Agrigento-based club has signed Kenneth Viglianisi , an Italian-German guard who came out of the Pallacanestro Reggiana youth team, where he also played in the first team in Serie A2 between 2010 and 2012. Manning the boards, however, will be the tall Riccardo Carta , another product of the Chierici school in via Cassala and called up to the national Under 16 team to play in the Iscar international tournament, during his time in the red and whites.
