Vieste mourns the passing of Giovanni Starace, the first headmaster of the Hotel School.

Giovanni Starace, the first principal of the Vieste Hotel Institute, died today of a sudden heart attack. Father of the current Councilor for Culture, Graziamaria Starace , he was principal of the "Mattei" school for many years, and was also a political representative in the 1980s. Starace collapsed shortly before 1:00 PM while getting out of his car near the Deterchimica store. Several passersby and a nurse who happened to be passing by immediately rushed to help. An ambulance arrived shortly thereafter. Efforts with a defibrillator and cardiac massage were unsuccessful. He was 81 years old.
