Von der Leyen: We will increase sanctions against Russia and provide security guarantees backed by the US
(Vista Agency) Kiev, February 24, 2025 “Finally, no one wants peace more than the Ukrainian people, but they want a just and lasting peace. And this comes only through force. And that is why we strengthen your economy. […] That is why we need to provide security guarantees supported by the United States. That is why today we are adopting the package of 16 sanctions. We will increase punitive sanctions against Russia until they demonstrate a real will to reach a lasting peace agreement.” This is what the President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen said at the international summit for support to Ukraine in Kiev.
