CREMA (Cremona) Two festivals begin today in the Crema area. The first, lasting six days, is at the Madonna dei Prati in Moscazzano; the second in Bolzone, a hamlet of Ripalta Cremasca, which lasts three days. In both, food takes center stage, especially Crema's tortelli . In Moscazzano, the festival is held outdoors, in the green countryside, in front of the small sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin, dating back to 1483. The church will remain open during the festival days for a visit to the ancient mural depicting the Madonna and Child. The Crema's tortelli, prepared by the historic ladies of the town, are excellent, as are fried vegetables and fish, salami, shin of pork, other types of pasta, and particularly carefully prepared desserts, as well as the classic fish with polenta (Wednesday only). In Bolzone, one of the most beloved festivals will take place from today to Sunday. First and foremost, the cuisine offers a wide range of dishes, from tortelli cremaschi to foiolo (veal tripe), fried calamari, classic grilled dishes, and bruschetta. New this year, starting tonight at 10 pm, is the Chiringuito, a cocktail bar.
