Record quarter for Unicredit, profit at 2.8 billion

Unicredit scores the best quarter in history and above estimates with a net profit in increase of 8.3% to 2.8 billion euros. Revenues are in rise of 2.8% to 6.5 billion, driven by commissions in increase of 8.2% to 2.3 billion which more than offset the reduction of the interest margin to 3.5 billion euros. "UniCredit has recorded an extraordinary series of results in the first quarter, exceeding expectations in all metrics financial and widening the positive gap with respect to competitors. We have achieved the best results in the UniCredit's history and the seventeenth consecutive quarter of profitable growth,” commented CEO Andrea Orcel.
