Heat will increase over the weekend, with 2 orange and 10 yellow weather warnings tomorrow.

The map of heat waves in Italy
Heat is on the rise and temperatures are rising in Italy at the start of the weekend , according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health's bulletin, which monitors the risk of heat waves in 27 provincial capitals.
While today, Friday, July 18th, will be cooler, with only 7 yellow weather warnings (Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Messina, Palermo, Perugia, and Rome), tomorrow, Saturday the 19th, the Italian peninsula will heat up again: the number of yellow-rated cities will rise to 10 (Ancona, Bologna, Cagliari, Campobasso, Catania, Florence, Frosinone, Messina, Rieti, and Rome), with Perugia once again set to orange along with Palermo.
The forecastsAfter the passage of an unstable and disturbed front, "a brief phase accompanied by 'relatively' cooler and more normal currents that reminded us of the 'summers of yesteryear'," Mattia Gussoni, meteorologist at 'iLMeteo.it', explains to Adnkronos, " starting Saturday, July 19, a promontory of the larger North African anticyclone will extend across a large part of the central-western Mediterranean basin, consequently also encompassing Italy . As has already happened in the recent past," Gussoni continues, "this time too, these will be air masses of subtropical origin, arriving directly from the scorching Sahara desert; in fact, the Mediterranean area is becoming increasingly tropical from a climatic point of view."
"Between Saturday and Sunday, therefore, sunshine will prevail from north to south, with temperatures generally above 34/35°C, especially in central and southern Italy and on the two major islands (locally, temperatures will reach 40°C). However, the heat will also be felt in the northern plains, where peaks of up to 32/34°C are expected during the afternoon hours. The only risk of isolated thunderstorms is the risk of isolated thunderstorms in the Alps and Prealps," concludes Gussoni.
