Filippo Boni resigns as deputy mayor of Cavriglia following his election to the Regional Council; Thomas Stagi will replace him.

Arezzo, 6 November 2025 – The recent electoral round of 12 and 13 October for the renewal of the Regional Council of Tuscany saw the election as Regional Councillor, with 11,000 preferences, of Filippo Boni who held the position of Deputy Mayor alongside Mayor Leonardo Degl'Innocenti o Sanni for over two terms, that is, since 27 May 2014.
With his election as Regional Councilor, Boni will no longer be able to serve as Councilor, as it is incompatible with his new institutional role. However, he will be able to continue his existing role as a City Council member. Thomas Stagi, who has also served on the City Council since the beginning of the Mayor's first term, will serve alongside the Mayor as Deputy Mayor. While awaiting the appointment of the Councilor who will replace Filippo Boni, the responsibilities he currently holds—Culture, Memory and Beauty, Urban Planning, and Construction—will be held ad interim by the Mayor.
"In underscoring the importance and significance for our region of Filippo Boni's election as Regional Councilor, I cannot help but thank him for the more than eleven years of working life spent side by side, sharing ideas, projects, and responsibilities," Mayor Leonardo Degl'Innocenti o Sanni began. "I therefore wish Filippo a rewarding new institutional journey, confident that he will embrace it with the dedication and passion he has shown in recent years as Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Cavriglia. At the same time, I am confident that Thomas Stagi will be able to competently fill the new role of Deputy Mayor, confirming the qualities he has demonstrated during his past terms as Deputy Mayor and in his current one."
Filippo Boni, newly elected Regional Councilor, commented on the Mayor's words: "It has been an honor and a pleasure for me to serve my community over these years, to be part of the councils led by Leonardo Degl'Innocenti and Sanni, and to collaborate with him, my fellow councilors, and the municipal employees for over 11 years. I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for their humanity, professionalism, great sense of duty, and dedication. These have been years of tremendous commitment, passion, and dedication, marked by many goals achieved with tenacity and togetherness. Cavriglia is and will always be my roots, my heart, my life. I am grateful to everyone and embrace each and every one of you: citizens, administrators, and employees. You are with me, now and always."
"I have supported this Municipal Administration for years; I was first a City Councilor and then a Councilor alongside the current Mayor, passionately dedicating myself to the life of our community. Receiving the role of Deputy Mayor from Filippo Boni is a source of pride and a motivation to do even better," concludes Thomas Stagi, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Cavriglia.
