Regional elections: the first election date has been set: voting in the Marche region takes place on September 28th and 29th.

The first date for the next regional elections has been announced. Voting will take place in the Marche region on Sunday, September 28th and Monday, September 29th. The governor of the Italian Democratic Party (FdI), Francesco Acquaroli , has signed the decree officially setting the date. The Region has also formally begun the process that will lead the citizens of the Marche to elect the regional council and the next president. Voting will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28th, 2025, and from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29th, 2025.
"Choosing this date is a common-sense choice," stated Regional President Francesco Acquaroli , "which essentially allows us to respect the natural expiration of the mandate by combining the need to avoid the concurrent submission of lists in the central weeks of August with the need to facilitate an orderly start to the new legislature with better planning of administrative activities and adequate time for the approval of the budget, without the risk of resorting to a provisional budget. We hope for a broad voter turnout, a true exercise of democracy."
The race will be five-way. Acquaroli, the outgoing governor, is running again for the center-right. His center-left rival will be Matteo Ricci of the Democratic Party, former mayor of Pesaro. The others in the running are Claudio Bolletta , chosen by Sovereign and Popular Democracy (DSP); Lidia Mangani , 72, a former teacher and school principal; and Francesco Gerardi of Forza del Popolo (FdP).
Regarding the regional council's decision to set the Marche regional elections for September 28th and 29th, Ricci commented: "Once again, they've put supposed party interests before the community's interests. It wasn't necessary to vote in September, interfering with the tourist season and the start of school. The people of Marche could have been spared an election campaign during their holidays, but at least we finally have a certain date. As I said before, they could have let us vote even on August 15th, but this time we're winning! The desire to change the Marche region is growing: for a strong, well-known region that sees society through the eyes of the most vulnerable."
