The Rome prosecutor's office has closed its investigation into Maria Rosaria Boccia , who was placed under investigation following the complaint filed last summer by former Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano . In the investigation coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini and prosecutors Giulia Guccione and Barbara Trotta, Boccia is charged with aggravated stalking, assault, unlawful interference with private life, defamation, and a charge relating to false statements on her CV in connection with the organization of events. The case broke at the end of last summer and led to Sangiuliano's resignation from the Ministry of Culture.
Last September, the businesswoman was raided by Carabinieri investigative units, who seized computer equipment, including her phones. In March, Boccia was questioned by the magistrates in charge of the case at Piazzale Clodio. Now, Rome prosecutors have served Boccia with a notice of conclusion of the investigation, a document that usually precedes a request for indictment.
The injured parties in the proceedings are Sangiuliano, the wife of the former minister and the former chief of staff of the ministry Francesco Gilioli.
