CTM transporters demand formal attention to their demands in Torreón

CTM transporters demand formal attention to their demands in Torreón

In a private meeting between transporters and authorities, concerns related to their concessions and the service they provide at various construction sites in the region were addressed. Although communication was opened with the city secretary, José Ganem Guerrero, and council members Raúl Ruelas and Raúl Garza, the members of the CTM material workers' union, led by Félix Caldera, expressed their interest in establishing a dialogue with the new Director of Transportation, César Alvarado, accompanied by Luis Morales, head of Roads and Urban Mobility.

During the meeting, union representatives expressed the need to be addressed in a formal meeting, which was scheduled for next week. At this roundtable discussion, their demands will be addressed, focusing primarily on the attention they require to carry out their work.

Councilman Raúl Garza del Valle, president of the Torreón City Council's Mobility Committee, confirmed that the main objective of this outreach is for the Director of Transportation to listen to their concerns, as the goal is to guarantee comprehensive care for workers.

The councilor indicated that this communication channel marks the beginning of a dialogue process in which the materialists will be able to present their demands directly to the heads of the corresponding departments.

In this regard, Torreón City Council Secretary José Ganem said that one of the central points of the discussion is the situation of freight service concessionaires. While both the current and previous municipal administrations have tried to avoid impacting employment sources, there are non-compliances in several areas, such as the age of vehicles and the validity of permits.

Authorities have expressed their willingness to work together with transport operators, but they also emphasize the need to modernize public transportation in all sectors. Studies are currently underway to improve urban transportation and analyze the taxi situation, as concessions were granted under the previous administration, the distribution of which is still being evaluated.

Freight transportation faces additional challenges, as some construction companies have opted to acquire their own trucks rather than hire external units, due to the condition of existing vehicles. This has raised concerns among transporters about the viability of their operations and the sustainability of their jobs.

The councilman emphasized that the municipal government's intention is to work hand in hand with transporters, ensuring that their concerns are heard and seeking agreements that benefit them without affecting service delivery in Torreón.
