How to practice voting for the judicial election? A helpful and simple guide

Less than a month before the unprecedented federal judicial election on June 1, 2025, many people still have questions about how to vote correctly. This is due to the complexity of the process: there will be six different ballots, each with colors, positions, and lists of candidates divided by gender and specialty. To facilitate this task, the National Electoral Institute (INE) has made available to citizens a free digital tool that allows them to practice voting from home.
This is the practicatuvotopj.ine.mx platform, a simulator designed to familiarize you with the ballots and the procedure you'll follow on election day. Below, we explain step by step how to use this tool, how the ballots are composed, and what additional sections will help you make a better decision.
1. Go to the official INE website: https://practicatuvotopj.ine.mx/
2. Have your INE credential on hand: You will need two pieces of information that appear on the front of your credential:
Federal entity (the state where you are registered)
Electoral section (four-digit number)
3. Fill in the information requested on the page and click “Start.”
4. Start the simulation: The platform will show you the six ballots you'll receive on Election Day. You can practice voting by marking your favorite options on each one.
5. Check if your vote was valid: At the end, the simulator tells you if you marked the ballots correctly and explains why your vote was valid or invalid.
Each ballot has a different color, depending on the type of office being elected. This is for easy identification. Additionally, they all have the following structure:
• Top: indicates the position to be chosen.
• Bottom: the list of candidates appears divided into two columns:
Left: candidates (women)
Right: candidates (men)
• Voting booths: some have additional colors that indicate the specialty of the position.
