The VTV (Veteran's Office) is stricter: the new requirement that could cause you to fail the process.

The Vehicle Technical Inspection (VTV) is a mandatory mechanical inspection for legal driving throughout Argentina. This procedure aims to ensure that vehicles are in safe condition and do not generate polluting emissions above permitted levels. In this context, authorities have strengthened inspection criteria and warned about a new key factor that could prevent many drivers from passing the inspection: the condition of the windshield.
Although motorists often focus their attention on the condition of the chassis, brakes, or exhaust, the windshield has become a crucial element. Current regulations stipulate that it must be in perfect condition, free of scratches, dents, chips, or elements that restrict the driver's field of vision, as these pose a safety risk.
In addition to the windshield, technicians also inspect the front bumper and wiper operation, so it's recommended to bring the vehicle in optimal condition to avoid rejections.
During the technical inspection, multiple aspects of the vehicle are evaluated:
- Front headrests
- Seat belts
- Tires (tread and rims)
If the vehicle fails the inspection, a new appointment must be requested within 60 days for a second inspection, once all detected faults have been resolved.
The national government recently announced changes to the mandatory deadlines for completing the VTV (Vocational Training) test. According to presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni :
- New private cars: must undergo the VTV (Vocational Vehicle Inspection) for the first time five years after their registration date.
- Vehicles over 10 years old: Renewal will be mandatory every two years for private individuals.
Furthermore, inspections will no longer be exclusive to state-owned workshops; they can be performed at any authorized workshop or dealership.
