The charming medieval village surrounded by natural pools of clean, cool water to combat the heat

The Matarraña region is undoubtedly one of the great gems of Aragon. Bordering Catalonia and the Valencian Community, this beautiful region of Spain, crossed by the river that gives it its name, hides fascinating villages of great beauty and magnificent natural settings that amaze all who explore them. However, there is one town that stands out as much for its architectural heritage as for the gems that surround it: the extraordinary town of Beceite.

Nestled in the Puertos de Beceite Natural Park, this incredible municipality in Teruel not only boasts a sublime town center that houses countless treasures, but also a multitude of extraordinary natural pools surrounding it, perfect for cooling off during the summer weeks. Although swimming is not permitted in what is probably the most impressive, El Parrizal, there are plenty of alternatives within walking distance.

Without a doubt, the other great natural wonder of these characteristics that can be enjoyed near Beceite (and in which tourists can bathe) is the Salt de la Portellada, an extraordinary waterfall of the Tastavins River located About 16 kilometers from the town, it forms a magnificent pool of crystal-clear water at its feet. Located between two ravines, it can be reached via a fantastic hiking trail that makes this place even more special.

Of course, you don't even have to leave the town center to enjoy this exciting natural pool. The Fuente de La Rabosa is located right in Teruel and is perfect for those who don't want to travel far to cool off. Its small waterfalls and its wonderful pool bathed by the Matarraña River make it a paradise for the town's residents.

La Pesquera, another option very close to Beceite

Less than five kilometers from the town is another ideal spot to beat the heat in Beceite. The natural pools of La Pesquera, an environment shaped over thousands of years by the Ulldemó River, are perfect for cooling off in the summer, as they are also surrounded by a unique environment that makes them very special.

At the same distance from the town is the Pena reservoir, one of the area's focal points during the summer months due to the large number of bathers who come to the reservoir to dive into its waters or practice water sports. With almost a century of history, this spot is undoubtedly a perfect choice for a day out.
