On our border with Germany - and Lithuania - checks by Polish services appeared on Monday. For now, for 30 days.

The officers do not check every car. However, they remind us that each of us leaving for Germany and returning from Germany should have a passport or ID card with us. In our province, we can cross the border at 19 points.

- The checks will be random. We do not want to make life difficult for residents, or to impede the flow of people and goods - declared Border Guard Commander Wojciech Heninborch, deputy commander of the Border Guard Marine Unit.

The introduction of controls is a response to the activity of "border defenders" who, after information appeared in the media that Germany was transferring migrants to the Polish side, stated that our services were not coping with this issue and began to appear on the border to monitor the activities of German officers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration reported that by 7 a.m. on Monday, 350 people and 160 means of transport had been checked at the border with Germany. Entry into our country was denied to one person.

Germany secures all its borders (they also check vehicles selectively). Since 2015, the border with Austria, from October 2023 with Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, from autumn 2024 - with the remaining neighbors.
