The grand opening is in a month. The most beautiful expressway in Poland for drivers.

- The S1 expressway - the Węgierska Górka bypass - is often called the most beautiful and at the same time the most expensive road in Poland.
- This is not surprising, as over 85% of it runs on bridges, high viaducts and tunnels.
- According to the assumptions, it was supposed to be delivered in August 2023. We will drive it in a month - just after October 20.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Przemysław Koperski, on his social media profile, spoke a few weeks ago about the opening of a section of the S1 expressway – the so-called Węgierska Górka bypass . It turns out that the road will open in exactly one month – just after October 20th.
The issue was clarified by the spokesman for the Katowice branch of GDDKiA, Marcin Twardysko.
Finishing work is already underway. Nothing stands in the way of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) taking over the project on October 20th, after all inspections . (...) The opening will take place after that date. The road will definitely be passable by the end of October.
- Marcin Twardysko told PAP.
The Węgierska Górka bypass, along the S1 expressway, is often called the most expensive road in Poland . No wonder, as over 85% of it runs on bridges, viaducts, and tunnels.

The viaducts are as high as a 10-story building, giving drivers the impression they're driving above the treetops. The route also offers beautiful views of the Beskid Mountains.
It is an 8.5-kilometer section of the S1 expressway. It will connect the Przybędza junction with the Milówka junction . A 4.7-kilometer section will be dual carriageway, while the remaining 3.8 kilometers will be single carriageway. It will pass through two tunnels, 830 meters and 1,000 meters long.
According to the assumptions, it was supposed to be completed in August 2023. The construction cost over PLN 1.6 billion, which is why it is said to be not only one of the most expensive sections of the expressway in Poland, but also one of the most beautiful.
One of the most anticipated expressways in PolandThe construction of the S1 expressway is one of Poland's key infrastructure projects . It's the most anticipated route in the south of the country, as it will relieve the congested National Road No. 1. When the entire S1 route is completed, drivers will experience a significant change.
This is the door to southern Europe
- it is defined by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
The S1 expressway will be 135 km long . It will not only be an expressway from the A1 motorway and the international airport in Pyrzowice to the state border in Zwardoń, but also a major international connection.
Intensive work is underway on several sections of the S1. In July, the section connecting the Podwarpie and Dąbrowa Górnicza Pogoria junctions opened. On August 25th, a section of the S1 route on the border of the Małopolska and Silesian Voivodeships opened, running from the Oświęcim junction to the Brzeszcze junction, along with a 600-meter section of the DK44. Over 40 km of new S1 route between Mysłowice and Bielsko-Biała is under construction.
GDDKiA is also in the final stage of developing projects for the reconstruction of S1 from Dąbrowa Górnicza to Mysłowice.
