The oldest volunteer fire department in the commune is already 130 years old! [PHOTOS]

The 130th anniversary of service to the local community, which began in 1895, is undoubtedly an occasion for celebration. The Ostrowiec Volunteer Fire Department has just that much under its belt. The firefighters celebrated this special anniversary with great pomp, inviting local residents, representatives of volunteer fire departments from the commune and town of Radymno, as well as firefighters from the provincial and district headquarters to join the celebration. Representatives of provincial, district, and municipal authorities, as well as uniformed services, were also present.

The celebrations began with a Mass dedicated to the firefighters. Afterward, accompanied by a band, a march took place to the square in front of the fire station. Here, wreaths were laid in memory of the Polish Army soldiers who died fighting the Germans and of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. A minute of silence was observed in memory of all the firefighters who gave their lives serving others. A commemorative plaque commemorating 130 years of the Ostrów Volunteer Fire Department was also unveiled and adorns the front wall of the fire station.

At the local stadium, awards and medals were also presented to distinguished members, including the Honorary Firefighter Star of Podkarpacie. Then came the time for a more relaxed celebration. The audience was treated to performances by members of the Pruchnik Wind Orchestra, the "Ostrowiacy" Song and Dance Ensemble, and students from the Ostrów Primary School and the Ostrów Women's Association. Additional attractions were plentiful, including displays of firefighting equipment, medical examinations, inflatables, and a train ride for the youngest, with a DJ providing the finale. This was not only a significant celebration for the firefighters, but also for the entire local community, which has been shaping the history of this unit for generations.
