"The problem posed by the municipal road, which begins at level 83, runs past houses and leads to fields, is well known to the local authorities. We've been working to harden its surface, which is in terrible condition, for two years. The mayor even promised that such action would be taken, but so far, it hasn't translated into any real work. Both I and my neighbor have submitted letters to the municipality, each with dozens of signatures. And still, nothing has happened, and we have to deal with a problem that—it seems—has been shelved," says Bożena Walczewska, who has lived near the problematic road for years.
[middle1]We happen to be there on a sunny day, so we can clearly see the dust swirling into the air every time farm equipment, cars, or quads pass by at high speed.
"We can't open the windows or hang out laundry on hot, dry days because dust settles on everything. It's impossible to function like that. When the land was being consolidated, they only graveled a short section, leaving the rest as is. We had to build the step ourselves because water flowing downhill from the fields is seeping into our property. It flooded halfway up our gas box and damaged the paving stones. Water came in through the front door," Bożena says with emotion, showing a series of photos as proof.
He adds that simply paving the road won't solve the problem. A trough or ditch is needed to drain the water.
"Once the water recedes, it's a terrible mud. And it's a disaster. Since we live a bit higher up from the main road, we have to wade through the mud to get home. I have two children, my son is in fifth grade, my daughter is in kindergarten. The children's bikes get stuck in the mud, and they have to put on shoe bags because of how they'll look afterwards," adds Beata, Bożena's neighbor.
She adds that recently, her yard was flooded with water runoff from the fields, requiring the fire department to intervene. She also had trouble accessing the property. She also recalls an incident in the winter when she had to call an ambulance...
