War in Donbas. Ukrainian troops held back the Russians, and some were trapped in a "cauldron"
"Ukrainian forces decimated a Russian combat group north of Pokrovsk. During the fighting, a significant portion of the area captured during the Russian raid was liberated. Some Russian units, likely from the 132nd Brigade, were surrounded in the town of Kucheriv Yar," writes one Western analyst.
The majority of the brigade's soldiers are reportedly residents of the occupied part of the Donetsk Oblast. The Russian command chose this unit for the attack because it "knows the terrain."
