Zelensky openly discusses the agreement with Russia. "It complicates the situation"

"Russia is rejecting numerous calls for a ceasefire and is not specifying when the killings will end," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, commenting on a statement by European leaders following a conversation with Donald Trump. "This complicates the situation," he wrote on social media.
The Ukrainian president responded to Saturday's statement by the leaders of eight Nordic and Baltic states , who assessed, among other things, that achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia requires a ceasefire and an "iron-clad security guarantee" for Kyiv. Zelensky thanked them for their support.
Ukraine-Russia. Volodymyr Zelensky: They lack good will"We see that Russia is rejecting numerous calls for a ceasefire and has not yet decided when it will stop the killings. This complicates the situation. If they lack the will to issue a simple order to halt the attacks , it may take a lot of effort to ensure that Russia has the will (...) to coexist peacefully with its neighbors for decades," the Ukrainian leader wrote.
Zelensky also wrote that preparations are underway for his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump , scheduled for Monday. He thanked the American leader for the invitation to Washington.

"It is important that everyone agrees on the need for talks at the leadership level to clarify all the details and determine what steps are needed and will work," added the Ukrainian leader.
Statement by European leaders after the Alaska summitTrump met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday , with whom he was expected to discuss a ceasefire. After the meeting, he admitted that no agreement had been reached , although he argued that significant progress had been made toward that goal. He also mentioned that several issues remained unresolved, but did not specify which ones.
"We welcomed Trump's efforts; the next step must be talks with Zelensky," European leaders said after the Alaska summit. They added that they were "ready to maintain pressure on Russia" as long as people continue to die in the war and the Kremlin cannot have a veto over Ukraine's accession to NATO and the EU.
