Formal confirmation of competence in the trade of mass-produced medical devices – how to obtain qualifications?

This is a modern form of confirming professional competences, available within the Integrated Qualifications System (ZSK). Market qualifications are aimed at people who learn outside the formal system – i.e. at work, through self-education or industry training.
Thanks to the validation process, it is possible to obtain a state certificate confirming specific learning outcomes – knowledge, skills and social competences.

One of the first market qualifications included in the ZSK in the medical devices sector is "Supplying mass-produced medical devices in stores". Its introduction was possible thanks to the initiative of the POLMED Chamber , which identified the need for formal confirmation of the competences of people working in this area.
Importantly, this qualification was included in the ZSK by the decision of the Minister of Health of 19 December 2018 and is important for entities providing services in the field of supply of medical devices issued on request.
- Obtaining the qualification is preceded by an optional training organized by the POLMED Chamber, where participants have the opportunity to acquire a solid knowledge pill - both theoretical and practical. The course as part of the market qualification is divided into several parts covering issues related to the implementation of an order for the supply of medical devices, selection of medical devices, settlement of financing of products with the National Health Fund, or legal requirements that medical devices must meet before they are transferred to the patient - recalls attorney Szymon Jankowski, one of the trainers and Associate at the Fairfield Law Firm.
Holders of a certificate of this qualification are entitled to carry out orders for:
- supply of mass-produced orthopedic items,
- supply of mass-produced aids (excluding aids in the field of hearing prosthetics and spectacle optics), including the supply of eligible medical devices.
This means that people with a certificate can provide the above-mentioned services under a contract with the National Health Fund.
The validation process for this qualification can be completed at the POLMED Chamber, which not only initiated its creation but also offers a professional path to obtaining the certificate based on a reliable assessment by industry experts.
In the opinion of attorney Oskar Platta, chairman of the validation committee, the validation process is not only a formal confirmation of competences, but also an excellent opportunity to update and consolidate knowledge. - Even the most experienced employees of medical stores find value in training courses preparing for validation, because they help them keep up with constantly changing legal regulations and innovations in the industry - he adds.
The qualification "Supplying medical devices in stores produced in series" is an excellent example of how professional experience can be transformed into an official certificate that has real value on the labor market. Thanks to the ZSK and the involvement of industry institutions such as the POLMED Chamber, competences gained in practice can now be fully appreciated - also by the health care system.
