Over a thousand candidates for engineering studies at the Maritime University of Technology

Navigation is the most popular field, with 165 candidates registered. Other popular fields include computer science, logistics, mechatronics, automation, geodesy, and cartography. The Maritime University of Technology has announced registration results for its full-time first-cycle studies.
The results of this year's recruitment at the Maritime University of Technology in Szczecin were presented on Wednesday by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Agnieszka Deja. Nearly 2,000 people registered for full-time first-cycle studies in the electronic registration system. 1,031 met the formal criteria and can now wear their PM uniforms in October.
- We managed to attract candidates for all fields of study, which we are proud of, because it proves that the offer of the Maritime University of Technology is attractive to candidates and meets their needs - emphasized Deja.
She noted that enrollment for the 2025/2026 academic year is better than last year in terms of overall registration numbers (2024 saw 1,924 applications). As every year, the maritime university's flagship program, navigation, was the most popular. The PM program attracted 165 candidates for merchant navy officers. The second most popular program was computer science, with 137 applicants.
- There were more applicants than places available, so we have opened a reserve list for this course - said PM spokeswoman Anna Malec.
In an interview with PAP, she reminded students that maritime universities are not under the Ministry of Science, but under the Ministry of Infrastructure, so admissions are based on slightly different rules. There are no rigidly set admission limits, and for example, in navigation, the number of first-year students (organization of teaching, number of groups) is adjusted based on interest in the field.
This year's PM recruitment confirmed that logistics is also a significant field of study, with 119 candidates completing the recruitment process. Mechatronics (82 candidates), automation and robotics (81), and geodesy and cartography (71) were also very popular.
"The popularity of these programs stems, among other things, from the university's continued growth and investment. In the new academic year, we will open a new building for the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering, located on the campus on Willowa Street, and the Academic Simulator Center on Wały Chrobrego Street," Deja announced.
The Vice-Rector also noted that the new "Spatial Modeling Engineering" program, launched in 2024, had twice as many students enrolled this year (over 50). There is also no shortage of students interested in working in the offshore industry and pursuing studies in the "Industrial Engineering and Offshore Wind Farms" program.
When presenting the recruitment results for engineering studies at the University of Technology, it was noted that 958 Polish students were among the candidate students, which is 37 percent more than in 2024. Among foreigners studying at the University of Technology, the largest group are Ukrainian citizens.
The Maritime University of Technology in Szczecin comprises five faculties: Navigation, Mechanical Engineering, Transport Engineering and Economics, Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science and Telecommunications. Undergraduate students can choose from 15 majors. The second round of enrollment is scheduled to begin at the end of July. The Maritime University of Technology enrolls approximately 4,000 students in total.
