The station on the road to Hel has become more beautiful. The transformation cost over PLN 4 million

The station on the road to Hel has become more beautiful. The transformation cost over PLN 4 million

The train station on the road to Hel has recently undergone a major metamorphosis. Many regional trains from Gdynia to Władysławowo and Hel stop there.

Mrzezino. The station is like new

Just a dozen or so years ago, the single-storey building in the Kashubian village of Mrzezino was a scary sight – its damaged elevation and unsightly graffiti were striking. In May of this year, the station presented itself after renovation, which cost almost PLN 4.5 million. The effects were presented by PKP.

"The station's elevation has gained a completely new look, finished with grey-beige flexible tiles. There are also large glazings that illuminate the waiting room inside. The building has also been expanded with a new shelter, which is an extension of the station's roof on the south side," the company informed.

There is a summer waiting room and bicycle racks under the shelter, and new clocks have been mounted on the building's facade.

The interior has also changed. In the air-conditioned waiting room, in addition to benches, there are display cases for timetables, electronic train arrival and departure boards, a clock and a toilet adapted to the needs of passengers with disabilities.

PKP investments in Pomerania

"The reconstruction of the station in Mrzezino is another investment implemented by PKP SA in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. At the beginning of April this year, we also made the historic station in Wejherowo available to passengers. Thanks to this, we are not only restoring the historical splendor of our stations, but above all, they are becoming a modern and comfortable space for serving passengers," noted Paweł Lisiewicz, member of the board of PKP SA

The railway station in Mrzezino was built in 1898, and the first train to Puck arrived in December 1898. From this Kashubian village, you will be close to the Beka nature reserve. You can reach Mrzezino by Polregio trains from Hel, Gdynia and Puck, among others.
