Wizz Air cancels route from Poland after years. LOT will quickly replace it

In recent days, we have heard a lot about routes that will disappear from Wizz Air's network. The Hungarian low-cost carrier, which is the second most popular in Poland, will remove the Rzeszów-Milan connection from its offer at the end of October. The ambitious plan to implement Milan-Abu-Dhabi connections will also not come true - this would be a unique offer, one of the longest routes of the European low-cost carrier.

This time, passengers will say goodbye to the "near exotic", Morocco, which is becoming increasingly popular among Poles. Although airlines usually resumed the connection on this route in October, the possibility of booking tickets from Chopin Airport is currently not available. The connection was launched by Wizz Air in 2018, as the second after Agadir. It was the result of a partnership agreement signed between the Moroccan National Tourism Office and the airline. The flights were not operated only during the coronavirus pandemic (July 2020 - October 2022).

Morocco with LOT Polish Airlines

Without competition on this route will be LOT Polish Airlines, which recently announced the launch of connections from Chopin Airport to Morocco. They will start on October 29 , and the connection will be operated with a frequency of two flights a week throughout the winter season.

In the autumn-winter season, Polish tourists will also fly to Morocco from Krakow (Ryanair) . The Irish airline is also developing in this country. In 2023, Morocco signed an agreement with it, thanks to which the annual number of passengers served and the number of flights is to increase from 4.5 million to 10 million by 2027. Morocco's tourist potential is growing. Last year, the country was visited by over 17.4 million people, which was a 20% increase compared to 2023.

Wizz Air currently operates over 170 routes from Poland, with 28 countries. In 2024, the Hungarian carrier carried 11.5 million passengers in Poland.
