Azores reinforces support program for the acquisition of photovoltaic panels by 41ME

"This measure is contributing significantly to the increase in decentralized energy production from renewable sources, driving a paradigm shift in the regional context", reads the publication.
According to the Regional Legislative Decree, SOLENERGE has "played a crucial role in the energy transition in the Azores, placing the final energy consumer at the center of the energy system, in line with the new energy models promoted at European level".
The increase in funding for SOLENERGE (which initially had a budget of 19 million euros) had already been approved unanimously on 5 June in the Azores Assembly, following a proposal from the Regional Government.
When presenting the diploma, the Secretary of Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructure recalled that the program was approved with 19 million euros, but was in high demand from Azorean families.
“We have everything moving at cruising speed. Fortunately, it was possible to reinforce this program in terms of reprogramming the PRR by 41 million euros”, stated Berta Cabral, adding that there are currently three thousand applications awaiting a response.
On January 16, the Government of the Azores (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) announced that the reprogramming of 75.6 million euros of the PRR in the Azores would dedicate 41 million to the SOLENERGE program, no longer financing electric boats.
When announcing the rescheduling, the Finance Secretary of the Government of the Azores recalled that SOLENERGE is experiencing “significant overbooking”, as there are “many projects without funds to be supported”.
“One of the big decisions is to put an additional 41 million euros into SOLENERGE. SOLENERGE, instead of having 19 million euros, will have 60 million and these 60 million will be exclusively for the private sector”, highlighted Duarte Freitas at the time.
The rescheduling took place after it was reported that several SOLENERGE candidates had received an indication that the analysis of their applications was suspended, as the allocated funds had reached their limit.
