Construction work on the Guarda Dry Port is already underway. The Mayor of Guarda, Sérgio Costa, visited the construction site this afternoon, July 9th, accompanied by João Neves, Chairman of the Board of Directors of APDL (Administration of the Ports of Douro, Leixões and Viana do Castelo).

This phase of the Guarda Dry Port involves an investment of around 4 million euros and the work will take “around eight or nine months”.

The project will be able to "operate existing cargo in the region ." João Neves said the project includes expanding the railway lines, increasing the available area for cargo storage, and urban development in the surrounding area to ensure the project fits well into the city.
